[[{“value”:”Vacant Shrewsbury Bottling Plant Site May Be Redeveloped into Apartments

A 25-acre development in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts is set to transform a long-vacant industrial site into a mixed-use project featuring a grocery store, 270 residential apartments, and a variety of smaller retail businesses. Located just outside Worcester along the busy Route 9 corridor, the property offers a rare infill opportunity in an area that is otherwise heavily developed with a mix of commercial, industrial, and residential uses.

The proposed development would replace a vacant 77,000-square-foot former bottling facility once operated by the Chelmsford Ginger Ale company at 335 Maple Avenue. The plan was recently presented to the Shrewsbury Planning Board for consideration.

In addition to this project, two other residential developments were approved in Shrewsbury earlier this January. These include a 300-unit housing project at 104 Main Street and a 196-unit development at 409 South Street. Both are designated as “Chapter 40B” projects, which take advantage of a Massachusetts state law allowing for greater housing density in exchange for offering a larger portion of units at affordable rents.
