The construction of a much-needed student housing project in Austin is underway, with plans to accommodate 555 beds for the University of Texas’ 66,000 students. The university currently has the most student housing under construction in the US at 5,522 beds.

Located at 2200 San Antonio St., Icon will stand at a height of 302 feet and offer underground parking in its four-story garage. The tower will consist of above-ground units ranging from one to five bedrooms over an area of approximately192,000 square feet.

Icon’s amenities include a rooftop pool, fitness center, game and lounge rooms, podcast studio and work spaces for students. Construction began in April with an expected completion date on August1st2025 by Hoar Construction as the builder.

With UT leading as the nation’s top campus for student housing construction projects,the new development is set to continue this trend while providing much-needed accommodations for students.
