**Teatown Lake Reservation Breaks Ground on $26M Campus Transformation**
Teatown Lake Reservation, a 1,000-acre nonprofit nature preserve and environmental education center in Ossining, NY, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a transformative $26 million campus redevelopment. The landmark project, covering 22,000 square feet, marks a significant investment in environmental education and community engagement, with construction expected to take between 12 and 16 months.
Since its founding in 1963, Teatown has served as a vital green space and learning hub in the Hudson Valley. The new project, developed in collaboration with award-winning architecture firm nARCHITECTS and landscape architects Starr Whitehouse, will include the construction of a state-of-the-art 5,400-square-foot Education Center. The new facility will feature innovative indoor teaching spaces, an outdoor deck, and a green roof aimed at enhancing both educational experiences and environmental sustainability.
Additionally, the existing Nature Center will undergo comprehensive renovations. The overall campus will be reimagined with accessibility and ecological enhancements in mind, including new pedestrian pathways, improved access points, and restructured campus operations designed to better connect visitors to nature.
“For more than 60 years, Teatown has been one of the Hudson Valley’s most cherished community resources,” said Kevin Carter, Teatown’s Executive Director. “This project ensures we can continue to inspire future generations of environmental stewards while creating a more accessible, welcoming campus for everyone.”
The campus transformation represents a major milestone in Teatown’s mission to preserve open space and promote environmental awareness and education in the region.
