Baptist Health South Florida has been granted approval by the city of Sunrise to construct a new hospital with 100 beds at a cost of $500 million. The seven-story facility will cover 340,000 square feet and will be accompanied by a nearby medical office building spanning 37,000 square feet. According to the South Florida Business Journal, this development is set to take place on a spacious 26-acre plot located at 12401 W. Oakland Park Blvd., which was previously owned by the town and sold for $13.75 million.
The hospital will offer various services including an emergency department, imaging facilities, critical care units, surgical suites, laboratory services as well as respiratory therapy and pharmacy amenities for patients’ convenience. Additionally,it will also house medical offices for consultations and outpatient procedures that operate round-the-clock throughout the week.
Sunrise is home to approximately 97,000 residents along with prominent landmarks such as Sawgrass Mills Shopping Mall,and Amerant Bank Arena – an entertainment venue with seating capacity of up to20 ,000 people that serves asthe home arenaforthe National Hockey League’sFlorida Panthers team.This exciting project has been given the green lightby Sunrise officialsandis expectedto bring significant benefits not only in terms of healthcare but also economic growthtothe community.
