Sterling Bay is pushing forward with its ambitious Lincoln Yards mega-development project by proposing a pair of apartment buildings totaling 609 units nearby. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, the developer plans to build a 16-story, 294-unit building and a 27-story, 315 unit building next to each other at 1840 North Marcey Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. To make room for this new development, Sterling Bay purchased and will demolish an existing building from third party logistics firm C.H Robinson in 2019. The City Council has already approved around 6,000 residential units at Lincoln Yards itself; however the project has faced numerous obstacles including financing setbacks and pushback from former Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
