**SpaceX to Add Massive Parking Garage at Bastrop Facility**

Often, the addition of a parking garage to a corporate property doesn’t generate much excitement. However, when an Elon Musk-led company like SpaceX is behind the project—and the garage is particularly large—it’s bound to draw attention.

SpaceX has filed a permit with a state planning agency to construct a 157,321-square-foot parking garage at its facility located at 888 FM 1209 in Bastrop, Texas. The project is estimated to cost around $20 million. To put it into perspective, the proposed structure will be larger than many supermarkets.

While the specific purpose of the parking garage remains unclear, construction began in February 2024 and is expected to be completed by January 2027, according to the Austin Business Journal.

The SpaceX Bastrop facility plays a key role in manufacturing components for Starlink, the company’s satellite internet service. It is situated across the street from Hyperloop Plaza—a Musk-owned shopping complex that also houses The Boring Company and the new headquarters of X (formerly Twitter).
