Skanska, a construction company, has been awarded a contract by Lee Health to build a new hospital and medical office building in Fort Myers, Florida. The total value of the contract is $435 million.

The project will cover 52 acres and was designed by Flad Architects. It includes the construction of a five-story hospital spanning approximately 416,000 square feet, as well as a central energy plant and an ambulatory surgery center within the 125,000-square-foot medical office building. The facility will feature over twelve operating rooms, forty-four emergency rooms,
one hundred sixty-eight patient rooms,
a rehabilitation gymnasium,
and specialty clinics for orthopedics,
spine care,rheumatology care,and infectious diseases.
In total,the complex will provide over
5600 square feet of healthcare services.

Currently,the utility infrastructure is being installed,and it is expected that the project will be completed in late fourth quarter of 2027.

Skanska’s previous projects in Florida have included healthcare facilities such as an ICU expansion at Lee Health Cape Coral Hospital,a Jewett Orthopedic Institute for Orlando Health,and an expansion at Gulf Coast Medical Center also located in Fort Myers.
