**Sarasota Memorial Unveils Plans for $507M Hospital Campus in North Port**

Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) has announced plans to construct a $507 million hospital campus in North Port, marking a significant milestone as the city’s first acute-care hospital. The new facility, located on a 32-acre site in the 4800 block of North Sumter Boulevard, will become the third hospital in SMH’s 100-year history.

Set for completion in 2028, the Sarasota Memorial Hospital–North Port will rise nine stories and feature an adjacent three-story medical office building. The hospital is expected to open with 100 beds and will include three floors of finished shell space, allowing for rapid expansion to 208 beds. The design offers long-term flexibility and could support a capacity of more than 400 beds as demand grows.

Facility plans include a comprehensive range of services. The hospital’s first floor will house emergency services, radiology and imaging, administrative and support services, along with a cafeteria and coffee bar. The second floor will be dedicated to surgical and procedural areas, while floors four through six will consist of private-room patient care units.

This development represents a major step in expanding healthcare access in the growing North Port community.
