Salvation Army has completed a relocation within Woodbridge, shifting operations from its former space at Gordon Plaza to a new store at Woodbridge Shopping Center in Woodbridge, Virginia.

The nonprofit has taken a highly visible position within the shopping center, occupying approximately 19,000 square feet. The new premises are located just two blocks from the organization’s previous Gordon Plaza location, helping maintain continuity of service and customer access in the same trade area.

The move comes as Gordon Plaza prepares to close and undergo demolition. That property is slated for redevelopment as a new Home Depot, which is expected to be delivered in 2027. Salvation Army’s relocation ensures its thrift retail operation remains active in the community as the former center transitions to a new use.

Woodbridge Shopping Center features a lineup that includes national and local tenants. The property is co-anchored by CVS and Dixie Bones, and Salvation Army is now positioned as another major draw within the center. The organization’s long-term lease signals an extended commitment to serving the Woodbridge market from this new address.

As a nonprofit retailer, Salvation Army operates thrift stores that sell donated goods, with proceeds supporting its community programs and social services. Maintaining a sizable footprint in a well-trafficked shopping center is an important component of its mission-driven retail model.

Boosalis Properties represented the landlord in the lease transaction. Principal George Boosalis noted that Salvation Army is expected to function as a strong anchor and effective co-anchor alongside CVS at Woodbridge Shopping Center. He added that the store’s presence should help drive shopper traffic, support other co-tenants, and continue to serve the surrounding residential and commercial community.

The combination of Gordon Plaza’s closure, its planned redevelopment, and Salvation Army’s long-term commitment at Woodbridge Shopping Center highlights an ongoing evolution in the local retail landscape, with established operators repositioning within the same submarket as older centers are reconfigured for new retail concepts.
