**Roanoke Breaks Ground on First Independent Living Facility with $81M Development**
Construction is officially underway on Roanoke’s first independent living facility, located at the intersection of Oak Street and Dorman Road. The $81 million senior housing project, named Watermere on Oak, will introduce 208 residential units designed to offer a high-quality standard of living for older adults. Amenities include a fitness center, meal service options, and housekeeping.
Watermere on Oak will provide a range of living arrangements and care levels including independent living, assisted living, short-term care, and memory care, making it a comprehensive senior-living community.
The project is being developed by Integrated Real Estate Group, which has also announced plans to build a 30-lot subdivision and an additional eight-lot subdivision within the community. These new residential areas will have no age restrictions, offering broader housing options within the development.
Since 2003, Integrated Real Estate Group has delivered more than 15,000 units throughout the South Central United States, representing more than $1 billion in real estate value. Their developments are primarily operated by in-house management divisions — Integrated Senior Lifestyles and Integrated Property Management. Their portfolio spans affordable and luxury multifamily communities, as well as active adult living, assisted living, and memory care facilities for seniors.
