A $65 million project is in the works for Lockhart, Texas, located in Caldwell County. The town and county are currently exploring incentive programs to entice Related to finalize the deal. According to reports from the Austin Business Journal, Related intends on constructing a 310,000-square-foot cold storage facility on a 53-acre plot of land in Lockhart. This facility will serve as storage for frozen and refrigerated goods for food producers and manufacturers, grocery retailers, and food service companies. It has potential to be part of a larger development.
The Caldwell County Commissioners Court will review an incentive agreement with Related at an upcoming meeting. In addition, there will be a special meeting held by the Lockhart Economic Development Corp., where they will discuss providing $1 million over ten years as reimbursement for utilities.
Related is known for their successful developments such as Hudson Yards in New York City, The Grand LA in Los Angeles,and The 78in Chicago.
