**Red Bull Breaks Ground on $1.5B Bottling Plant in Concord, North Carolina**

In a major step forward for economic development in North Carolina, Red Bull is set to begin construction this week on a $1.5 billion manufacturing and distribution facility at the former Philip Morris site, now known as The Grounds at Concord.

Originally announced in 2021 by the state’s economic development office, the project will transform the 500-acre site into a sprawling campus that includes nearly 2.4 million square feet of building space. At full operational capacity, the facility will be capable of filling up to 3 billion cans of Red Bull products annually.

The initiative is expected to create up to 700 new jobs in the region, providing a significant boost to the local economy. The site was purchased in 2021 by a group comprising Red Bull, beverage partner Rauch, and Ball Corporation for $55 million, marking a major investment in the future of beverage production and distribution in the U.S.

At the time of its announcement, the Red Bull campus represented the largest economic development project in the history of Cabarrus County. Since then, it has been surpassed in size and scale only by Eli Lilly and Co.’s pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, which carry a price tag of over $2 billion and are also located at The Grounds.

This groundbreaking signifies a transformative moment for Concord and the broader North Carolina region as it continues to attract major global investments.
