In January, Ontario International Airport (ONT) experienced a surge in passenger traffic with almost 470,000 travelers passing through its gates. This included a record-breaking number of international passengers at 45,012 – an increase of nearly 90% compared to the previous year.
According to Atif Elkadi, CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority, this strong start to the new year is reflective of ONT’s consistent growth in passenger volume over the past 35 months. He also noted that ONT’s mission as Southern California’s preferred international gateway has been achieved with this record-setting number.
Elkadi attributed part of ONT’s success to job growth in the Inland Empire region. As reported by Orange County Register , there has been significant job creation in this area with an estimated gain of over 128,400 jobs between now and 2023 – making it California’s leading job-producing region.
This milestone for Ontario Airport highlights its position as a key player within Southern California and showcases its potential for continued growth and development.
