Publix Acquires West Kendall’s Hammocks Town Center for $71.9M
Publix Super Markets has purchased the Hammocks Town Center in West Kendall for $71.93 million. The company had been the anchor tenant at the shopping center and the acquisition strengthens its long-standing strategy of owning retail properties where it operates, giving it greater control over tenant composition and property improvements.
The 207,470-square-foot shopping center is located at 10201 Hammocks Blvd. and features a tenant mix that includes the West Kendall Regional Library, CVS, Dollar Tree, YouFit, and Subway. The purchase does not include adjacent outparcel buildings such as a bank, standalone restaurants, or the nearby Kendall Ice Arena.
Regency Centers was the seller in the transaction. The deal translates to approximately $347 per square foot. Originally built in 1987, the property last changed hands in 1999 for $18 million.
This acquisition continues Publix’s ongoing expansion of its real estate portfolio throughout Florida, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining influence over the customer experience and the long-term sustainability of its retail locations.
