Pappas Restaurants has recently acquired the iconic Como Hotel in Richardson, Texas. The 34-bed motor hotel was a well-known fixture off US Highway 75 and had been standing since an era before the proliferation of interstate highways. While Pappas has not yet revealed their plans for the property, they have stated that their goal is to make “the area more secure and safe for our guests, team members and neighbors”. A group is hoping that Pappas will decide to preserve this vintage structure rather than demolish it; however, the company says they are going to solicit input on what would be considered as its highest and best use for both land and building alike. As owners of popular restaurant brands such as Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen or Pappasito’s among others, there is no doubt that whatever decision they take will bring great value to this area of Richardson while still honoring its historical significance at the same time.
