**NC State Announces $180M Integrative Sciences Building**

North Carolina State University in Raleigh has announced plans for a new $180 million high-tech facility focused on student education, training, and workforce development.

The facility, known as Woodson Hall or the Integrative Sciences Building, will span 153,000 square feet. It will serve as a hub for advanced scientific research and hands-on undergraduate learning. The building is named in honor of Chancellor Randy Woodson and reflects the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration in the sciences.

Funding for the project is being provided through a partnership between NC State University and the North Carolina General Assembly. More than 25 faculty members will work within the facility, conducting research across three core scientific themes.

The building will be structured with its first two floors prioritizing undergraduate education and training. The third through fifth floors are designed to accommodate state-of-the-art research laboratories and the Integrative Sciences Initiative.

Located next to NC State’s iconic Brickyard, the new facility will occupy the former site of Harrelson Hall, which stood for over 50 years before its demolition in 2016. Leading architecture firms Moseley Architects and ZGF Architects have been selected for the design of the project.

Construction is slated for completion in September 2026, with the building expected to become fully operational by the spring 2027 semester.
