Marcus & Millichap (MMI) announced on Tuesday their equity investment in EquityMultiple, a real estate financing and investment technology platform based in New York. This partnership will offer sponsors and operators additional sources of private capital financing while providing accredited investors with streamlined access to unique opportunities for real estate equity and credit. According to Marcus & Millichap’s COO of the Eastern Division, J.D. Parker, this collaboration strategically expands their range of capital solutions by investing in innovative proptech ventures that have the potential to transform the industry.

EquityMultiple is headquartered in New York City and simplifies the process of building strong portfolios through proprietary data-driven underwriting methods. They offer fractional investments in individual properties as well as private commercial real estate funds, making it easier for investors to diversify their CRE holdings.

According to Charles Clinton, CEO and co-founder of EquityMultiple, since 2015 they have been providing solutions for sponsors seeking capital markets options while also giving access to commercial real estate opportunities typically reserved for institutional portfolios. He believes that this partnership with Marcus & Millichap marks an exciting step forward not only for his firm but also within the realm of fintech space focused on real estate investing.
