**IEM Plans $200M Facility at Brooks City Base, Bringing 3,000 Jobs to San Antonio**
Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM), a leading California-based manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $200 million in a new 500,000-square-foot facility at Brooks City Base in San Antonio. The development is expected to generate nearly 3,000 jobs for the region and will be located near Brooks Global Crossing.
IEM is recognized as the largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and control systems in North America. As part of its expansion efforts, the company is negotiating tax abatements estimated at $1.5 million from Bexar County.
In related news, another manufacturing project is taking shape in Bexar County. Building materials producer Ecor Global has announced plans to break ground on a $170 million facility in Elmendorf later this year. The facility, to be located at Mission Rail Park on the county’s southeast side, is projected to employ approximately 150 people. The site will initially span 300,000 square feet, with potential for a 240,000-square-foot expansion.
