Two major life sciences projects, the Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay and Innovation East, have been approved by the New York City Council. This marks the completion of a public review process for these projects in Manhattan’s Kips Bay neighborhood. The New York City Economic Development Corporation has identified these initiatives as crucial in achieving their goal of creating 10 million square feet of life sciences space within the city.
According to NYCEDC president & CEO Andrew Kimball, “The state-of-the-art developments at SPARC Kips Bay and Innovation East will not only have a significant economic impact but also establish a strong talent pipeline through our city’s academic institutions and organizations.”
SPARC Kips Bay will revitalize an entire city block with over two million square feet dedicated to academic, public health, and life sciences facilities. Meanwhile, Innovation East at 455 First Ave. will replace an outdated Public Health Lab with a new cutting-edge hub for life science research. These projects are expected to bring numerous benefits to both the local community and economy.
