**Johns Hopkins University Acquires Downtown D.C. Office Building for $30.7M**

Johns Hopkins University has expanded its footprint in Washington, D.C., through the acquisition of a prominent downtown office building. The university purchased the 13-story property located at 633 Indiana Avenue NW for $30.7 million from an affiliate of Zuckerman Gravely Management Inc., through a deed in lieu of foreclosure.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the transaction was funded through a combination of institutional backing and philanthropic contributions. The building, which spans 151,300 square feet, was previously slated for a foreclosure auction. That process was ultimately cancelled following the university’s agreement to purchase the asset outright.

With a price equating to approximately $203 per square foot, the purchase represents a strategic addition to Johns Hopkins’ growing presence in the district. The building has long served as the home of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency. Once the agency’s lease concludes later this year, the university intends to use the space to house faculty and staff.

The property’s assessed value stands at $37.8 million. This acquisition follows the university’s 2023 opening of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center, located just a few blocks away at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue. Through these investments, Johns Hopkins continues to bolster its academic and operational infrastructure within the nation’s capital.
