**Jacksonville Jaguars Secure $532M Stadium Building Permit for “Stadium of the Future”**
The City of Jacksonville has issued a $532 million permit to begin construction of the “Stadium of the Future,” a transformative new venue that will serve as the home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. The project is being led by construction giants Hunt Construction and Barton Malow, with architectural firm HOK overseeing the stadium’s innovative design.
While elements of the existing EverBank Stadium will be retained, the extensive renovation aims to bring the facility up to par with the latest NFL stadiums across the country. The revamped venue will boast a base seating capacity exceeding 63,000, with the flexibility to expand to 71,500 for college football games and accommodate even more for concerts through enhanced lighting and digital technology. A key feature of the design includes a 70% shade canopy to improve comfort during events.
The overall investment for the project stands at $1.4 billion, funded jointly by the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Construction is expected to wrap up in time for the 2028 NFL season.
During the construction phase, the Jaguars will temporarily relocate for the 2027 season. Potential interim homes include Orlando and Gainesville, which have emerged as the leading contenders.
