Texas Instruments has fulfilled its commitment to construct a state-of-the-art semiconductor plant in Lehi, Utah. The company officially announced plans for the new facility, LFAB2, in February with a projected cost of $11 billion. This project marks the largest investment ever made in the state.
Set to open by 2026, LFAB2 will operate alongside its predecessor, LFAB1, and produce millions of analog and embedded processing chips daily. With an estimated workforce of 800 employees, this factory will bring significant economic growth to the region.
Located just 29 miles north of downtown Salt Lake City and only four miles south from downtown Lehi’s center city area ,LFAB1 boasts over 275 square feet of clean room space along with seven miles worth of overhead delivery systems. Its sustainable design also prioritizes minimizing waste production as well as energy and water consumption levels. Following its acquisition from Micron Technology for $90 million in 2021,LFAb1 began production at full capacity back in December 2020.
