The Houston Texans plan to relocate their headquarters and training facilities to the Toro District in Bridgeland, a new mixed-use district within the Bridgeland master-planned community. The project spans 83 acres and is being led by Howard Hughes Communities, which is positioning the Toro District as a large-scale hub combining office, health care, hospitality, retail and entertainment space. The overall plan calls for nearly 2 million square feet of development, with multiple asset types integrated into a walkable layout.
Programmatically, the Toro District is expected to include approximately 1 million square feet of office space, giving it a substantial corporate and professional footprint. The plan also allocates 300,000 square feet for retail and restaurant uses, along with 250,000 square feet dedicated to regional health care and sports medicine facilities. Hospitality is represented by two hotels totaling 300 keys, while residential density will come from 1,300 multifamily units, all designed to be part of a pedestrian-oriented environment.
The district is located within Bridgeland Central, the 925-acre urban core of the broader Bridgeland community. It sits to the west of Grand Parkway, off Peek Road and north of Bridgeland Creek Parkway, positioning the project within a larger regional growth corridor. The combination of office, health care, hospitality, retail, entertainment and multifamily uses is intended to establish Toro District as a comprehensive live-work-play destination.
The Texans intend to develop their new headquarters and training complex on 22 acres on the southern side of the Toro District as the first phase of the project. Current plans call for a 175,000-square-foot office building to house team and football operations, paired with a 150,000-square-foot indoor stadium designed to accommodate 16,000 spectators. The facilities program also includes three outdoor NFL-size football fields, along with multiple flag football fields and volleyball courts to support both professional training and broader community or event use.
The team and development stakeholders are targeting a fall 2029 opening for the Texans’ facilities, subject to execution of the planned development timeline. Subsequent phases of the Toro District are projected to deliver as early as 2032, further building out the office, retail, health care, hospitality and residential components over time. Architecture firm Gensler has been engaged as the project architect, supporting the design of both the Texans’ complex and the broader mixed-use environment within the district.
