**Houston Texans, Howard Hughes to Develop 83-Acre Sports and Entertainment District in Cypress**
Howard Hughes Holdings is joining forces with the Houston Texans to develop a major sports and entertainment district in Bridgeland, the company’s 11,500-acre master-planned community in Cypress, Texas.
To be called the Toro District, the development will span 83 acres within Bridgeland Central, a 925-acre urban hub at the heart of the community. According to the Houston Business Journal, the district will include a mix of features such as retail, restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, multifamily residences, and medical facilities.
As a centerpiece of the development, the Houston Texans will build a new 22-acre headquarters complex. The facility will include office space, an indoor stadium, and outdoor fields. Beyond professional football operations, the training facilities will also serve the community, providing space for youth sports and public events.
Architecture firm Gensler has been tapped to lead design efforts for the project.
The Harris County Commissioners Court recently approved a memorandum of understanding for the Toro District, which is projected to generate $34 billion in economic impact and create approximately 17,000 jobs over the next 15 years.
Details including a groundbreaking date, project timeline, and architectural renderings are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
