**Hines Proposes West Coast’s Tallest Tower for San Francisco**

Three years after city planners initially rejected its plan, real estate firm Hines has returned with a bold new proposal: a supertall office tower at the former Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) campus in downtown San Francisco. The envisioned skyscraper at 77 Beale Street would soar to 1,225 feet, making it the tallest building on the West Coast.

The revamped proposal comes at a time of shifting momentum in San Francisco’s development landscape. According to the San Francisco Business Times, the city is more receptive to large-scale projects amid renewed efforts to stimulate economic growth.

“San Francisco’s comeback depends on bold ideas and real investment,” said Mayor Daniel Lurie. “This project is exactly the kind of progress our city needs.”

Local insiders suggest that city officials are more likely to collaborate with Hines this time around. Leigh Lutenski, Director of Development for the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, emphasized the broader implications of the proposal.

“This isn’t really about building one tower,” Lutenski said. “It’s about investment, and reshaping and remaking an entire city block, which is really exciting to us as we’ve undergone significant effort to bring new investment to San Francisco.”

If approved, the tower would not only redefine San Francisco’s skyline but also signal a significant step forward in the city’s post-pandemic revitalization.
