Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties has completed the Miller’s Creek community in Burien, delivering 40 new affordable homes. The organization, also known as Habitat SKKC, describes Miller’s Creek as its newest completed community, adding family-oriented housing options to the local stock.

The homes at Miller’s Creek are all designed with three- and four-bedroom layouts, aiming to accommodate households that need additional space. The community plan also incorporates a playground and green spaces, providing on-site recreational areas for residents and contributing to the livability of the neighborhood.

Miller’s Creek is located within walking distance of schools, shops, and services, positioning residents close to everyday amenities and essential community infrastructure. This proximity to education, retail, and local services is a central feature of the project and supports the community-focused mission of Habitat SKKC.

The completion of Miller’s Creek aligns with Habitat for Humanity’s broader Let’s Open the Door campaign. Home is the Key is identified as the first major U.S. activation of that campaign, with Miller’s Creek serving as a tangible example of the initiative’s focus on expanding access to affordable homeownership opportunities.

Habitat SKKC notes that the organization has more than 300 homes in its construction pipeline through 2030. This longer-term development pipeline underscores a sustained effort to add affordable housing in the region over the next several years, with Miller’s Creek representing one of the earlier completions in that programmatic build-out.

The Miller’s Creek community was supported by a broad coalition of public, nonprofit, and private backers. Contributors include The City of Burien, National Housing Trust, Amazon, the Washington State Department of Commerce, the King County Housing Finance Program, South King Housing & Homeless Partners, and the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.

Additional support came from corporate and philanthropic partners such as Weyerhaeuser, Black Rock, Washington Trust Bank, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Boulevard Park Place, the Aven Foundation, the Norcliffe Foundation, and Symetra. This mix of municipal, state, federal, financial, corporate, and foundation participation highlights the multi-source funding and partnership model often required to complete affordable housing projects.

With Miller’s Creek now completed, 40 families will have the opportunity to access affordable homes in a community setting that integrates open space, family-oriented layouts, and walkability to nearby services. The project also serves as a reference point for how coordinated support from multiple stakeholders can be brought together to advance affordable homeownership.
