**Food Lion’s $860 Million Distribution Center Coming to Burlington, North Carolina**

Food Lion’s parent company, Ahold Delhaize, is investing $860 million in a new distribution center located on N.C. 61, about one mile south of Interstate 40 in Burlington, North Carolina.

According to the Triad Business Journal, the Netherlands-based grocery giant plans to initially employ 120 people at the site, which will serve its various East Coast grocery brands. Over time, the number of employees is expected to grow to approximately 500 within eight years. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with operations projected to commence in 2029.

The distribution center site was assembled by Crown Companies of Dobson, which finalized the purchase of approximately a dozen parcels in September, following a successful rezoning request during the summer of 2024.

This major development is being supported by local government incentives. The Burlington City Council unanimously approved a $21.5 million incentive package, and the Guilford County Board of Commissioners authorized an additional package valued at up to $17.9 million.

The facility marks a significant investment in the region and is expected to enhance Ahold Delhaize’s logistics capabilities across the East Coast.
