Food Lion Completes $484 Million in Store Upgrades Across the Carolinas
Food Lion has announced the completion of a $484 million capital investment project that remodeled 153 stores across the greater Charlotte designated market area (DMA). This extensive initiative impacts numerous towns and cities throughout North and South Carolina.
Enhancements made to the stores include upgrades to storefronts, lighting, and refrigeration systems. Aisles have also been widened to improve navigation and the overall shopping experience.
Founded in Salisbury, North Carolina, in 1957, Food Lion also implemented the following key improvements as part of this initiative:
– Extensive Product Assortment:
– The remodeled stores offer a wide range of products tailored to meet both individual and family needs. A strong focus was placed on affordable and convenient options, including ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-heat items.
– Fresh & Simple Branded Meals:
– Shoppers will now find a variety of fresh and simple meal solutions, designed to provide flavorful, easy-to-prepare options that suit busy lifestyles.
– Enhanced Checkout Experience:
– In response to customer and associate feedback, nearly all updated stores now feature self-checkout lanes. This gives customers the choice between traditional cashier-assisted lanes and a quicker, self-service option.
Food Lion is a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize, a multinational grocery company headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands.
