A Mexican food company has announced plans to construct a $21.3 million warehouse and office complex in the historic Segundo Barrio neighborhood of El Paso. This new facility, spanning 59,000 square feet on seven acres, will serve as the company’s United States headquarters.

Grupo Bafar, known for its popular lunch meat brand in Mexico, will build this cold-storage facility and office complex across from their current warehouse at 1601 E. Fourth Ave., with plans to vacate that building by 2024.

In addition to their operations in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio district, Grupo Bafar also owns six Valley Supermarket locations and Frontier Foods Meat Market on Alameda Ave.

To support this expansion project, the city and county have agreed to provide up to $846,693 in property tax rebates. With these incentives secured and construction underway soon after approval is granted by local authorities, the Mexican food giant is set for significant growth within the region.
