The City of Everett has released a preliminary site plan offering an aerial view of its proposed Outdoor Event Center, a $120 million ballpark and soccer venue intended to anchor a reinvestment effort in the city’s core. The early design materials outline how the new stadium complex would be organized on the site and how it would connect to the surrounding street grid and neighboring properties.
According to the city’s plan, the project includes a full stadium blueprint along with conceptual renderings of public plazas and major entrances oriented along Broadway. The design emphasizes a dedicated festival street that can be closed to vehicles for events, as well as a network of pedestrian connections across and around the site. These elements are aimed at improving access for event attendees while enhancing the public realm around the stadium.
The planning documents also depict improved access routes to the property, including connections to Everett Station and links to adjacent parcels. A dedicated pedestrian trail is part of the concept, providing an additional non-vehicular route to and from the venue. The integration with transit infrastructure and nearby properties positions the stadium as a potential catalyst for broader activity in the surrounding area.
To keep the Everett Outdoor Event Center moving forward, the Everett City Council has recently approved several actions tied to the project. These actions include steps related to design work, property acquisition and securing funding, signaling continued municipal support for the effort. Together, these measures represent a key phase in advancing the project from concept toward implementation.
As part of this progression, the council also voted to authorize an additional $10.6 million in spending on the downtown stadium project. This incremental funding supplements the broader $120 million project budget and is intended to support ongoing project needs as planning and site work continue. The allocation underscores the city’s role as a primary financial backer at this stage.
Once complete, the new Outdoor Event Center is slated to serve as the home field for the Everett AquaSox and United Soccer League franchises. Positioning professional baseball and soccer at a single venue is expected to concentrate sports programming at the site, with frequent events driving repeat visitation. From a commercial real estate standpoint, the combination of a significant public investment, enhanced pedestrian infrastructure and consistent sports usage could support long-term activity in the surrounding downtown area, while the project’s current status remains in the planning and funding phase.
