**El Paso’s Vinton Steel Plant Undergoes $255M Expansion**
The 63-year-old Vinton Steel plant, located just outside El Paso, is set for a major transformation. Parent company Kyoei Steel has announced a $255 million investment to modernize and expand the facility by more than 1.5 million square feet.
The expansion will allow the mill to double its production capacity of recycled steel products, such as reinforcing bars and grinding balls. In addition to increasing output, the project incorporates advanced technologies aimed at lowering emissions and improving energy efficiency.
This significant upgrade is expected to generate more than 300 new jobs initially. Over the long term, the project could support more than 2,000 regional jobs by 2062. Economic forecasts suggest the development could contribute more than $17.9 billion in total local economic output over the next 36 years.
Construction on the facility is expected to continue through early 2027.
