**Dick’s Sporting Goods Approved for Forney’s Villages at Gateway Development**
The Forney City Council has approved a site plan for a new 60,000-square-foot Dick’s Sporting Goods store at the Villages at Gateway, a 143-acre mixed-use development located at U.S. Highway 80 and North Gateway Boulevard in Forney, Texas.
The full development, led by StreetLevel Investments, will encompass 820,000 square feet of space. Phase One of the project is slated to open in summer 2026 and will include major anchor tenants such as H-E-B, Target, and Home Depot. Notably, the 134,425-square-foot Home Depot location officially opened earlier this month, becoming the company’s 185th store in Texas and bringing approximately 150 new jobs to the area.
Phase Two of the Villages at Gateway will add another 200,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, as well as 650 multifamily residential units. Evo Entertainment, a family-oriented entertainment venue, is expected to open in this phase and employ around 200 part-time workers within three years of operation.
To support the development, the City of Forney has extended an economic development incentive package valued at over $34 million to StreetLevel Investments. The agreement requires StreetLevel to invest at least $195 million and create a minimum of 200 jobs within 36 months after construction is completed.
This expansion is part of Forney’s ongoing efforts to attract top-tier retailers and provide new economic opportunities for the community.
