Crosland Southeast is seeking approval for a mixed-use development in Matthews that will include both residential and commercial components. The proposed project would cover 92.9 acres of land located at 1700 E. John St., and the developer has submitted a rezoning request to move forward with their plans.
If approved, the project would feature 564 apartments, a 120-room hotel, 103 single-family homes, 48 townhomes, and approximately 54,000 square feet of retail/office space. According to reports from the Charlotte Business Journal , the Matthews Board of Commissioners has delayed their decision on this request until early next year.
The desired location for this development is just off Exit #52 on Interstate-485 near Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus and Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews. The property itself is owned by Aspen Asset Group and the Yandle family.
Crosland Southeast also serves as master developer for Eastland Yards – formerly known as Eastland Mall – in Charlotte. With its sights set on expanding into Matthews with an exciting new mixed-use project underway there too!
