**Cook County Unveils First Homes in $12M Modular Housing Pilot Program**

Cook County celebrated a major milestone in its push for affordable housing with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday morning, marking the completion of the first two homes in a $12 million modular housing pilot program.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle joined other local officials to announce the debut of these newly built homes, part of the Cook County Modular Homes Pilot Program. The initiative is targeting areas including the Humboldt Park neighborhood in Chicago, Chicago Heights, and Proviso Township.

The first two homes, located on the 800 block of North Homan Avenue in Humboldt Park, are among 12 planned for construction on 12 vacant lots designated by the Cook County Land Bank Authority (CCLBA). Ownership of the lots was transferred to nonprofit developer Inherent Homes, which constructs each home at its facility in North Lawndale on Chicago’s West Side. Once completed, the homes are transported to their respective lots for installation.

In total, the pilot program will include 120 homes, aiming to deliver cost-effective and sustainable housing options across the region. The effort reflects a broader commitment by the County to explore scalable, innovative solutions to the housing affordability crisis.
