Fidelis, a Conroe-based developer, is currently in talks with the City of Hutto and a local municipal utilities district for a large mixed-use project located between SH 130 and Chris Kelly Boulevard. The development, named Huggins Crossing, will feature 600 multi-family residential units along with expanded brushy creek trailways and greenbelt areas. Additionally, there will be 60,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space including a grocery store as well as potential for a hotel or medical facility.

One notable aspect of this project is the inclusion of three logistics buildings totaling 700,000 square feet. These large spaces are commonly used for storage or distribution purposes and are expected to create around 800-1000 jobs while generating an estimated $9.8 million in property and sales tax revenue.

Despite some challenges related to water supply and transportation concerns that have arisen during negotiations thus far, Fidelis remains optimistic about moving forward with their plans. If all goes according to plan, Phase I construction (industrial) could begin by late 2025 followed by Phase II (residential/retail) in the years following (2026-27).
