Chicago’s South Side is set to welcome its first Chick-fil-A location, as the City of Chicago Plan Commission has given approval for the transformation of a vacant off-track betting facility into the popular chicken sandwich chain’s newest Southeast Side spot.
The 5,196-square-foot restaurant will be developed on a six-acre parcel by nonprofit organization Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives (CNI) and the Hope Center Foundation. Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2024, creating 125 new jobs and an additional 145 jobs during construction.
According to David Doig, President of CNI, this achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and support from community leaders such as Alderman Anthony Beale and Rev. Meeks. The collaboration between various organizations including Chick-fil-A has contributed to making Pullman an exciting destination that uplifts both its residents and all of Chicago.
