CBRE has expanded its Pacific Northwest multifamily investment capabilities with the addition of Sam Lawhead as a first vice president in its Portland office. Lawhead joins the firm’s Pacific Northwest multifamily investment team and will work closely with existing team members Matt Dodd, Josh McDonald, and Joe Nydahl to advise clients active in the region’s apartment investment market.
Lawhead brings more than 15 years of experience focused on multifamily investment sales, recapitalizations, and institutional advisory assignments. Over the course of his career, he has concentrated on serving institutional and private investors seeking to trade, recapitalize, or reposition multifamily assets, with a particular emphasis on complex capital stack and transaction structures.
Before joining CBRE, Lawhead served as a managing director with Newmark’s Pacific Northwest Capital Markets team. In that role, he was involved in more than $2.7 billion of multifamily transactions encompassing over 10,000 units, underscoring a track record in large-scale portfolio and single-asset trades for a range of investor profiles. His experience extends beyond brokerage into acquisitions and property management roles, giving him familiarity with both ownership and operational perspectives.
