Heritage Grocer’s Group, based in Ontario, California, has acquired all 27 El Rancho Supermercado stores located in Texas and one store located in Kansas. The stores will continue to operate under their existing name. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In addition to the El Rancho Supermercado locations, Heritage currently operates 57 Cardenas Market brand stores; 20 Tony’s Fresh Market locations; and seven Los Altos Ranch Market banners across California. Marisa Kutansky from Heritage commented on the acquisition: “The team at El Rancho Supermercado have built a strong brand with long-standing relationships with customers which we can leverage for greater value across Texas and Kansas.”

In 2017 Albertsons Co., acquired an equity stake in El Rancho Supermercado as part of its growth strategy when it operated 16 stores throughout Texas only. Now that Heritage Grocer’s Group has taken over ownership of all 28 locations they are sure to benefit from this strategic move made by Albertsons Co..
