BREAKING: Three NYC Casino Proposals Receive Recommendation from State Board

The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board has recommended three casino proposals for licensing: Bally’s Bronx, Resorts World New York City, and Metropolitan Park. These projects — all located outside Manhattan — now await final approval from the New York State Gaming Commission.

This development marks a significant milestone in the long-debated expansion of downstate gaming. The three remaining proposals emerged after MGM Empire City withdrew its bid and several other applicants, including notable names such as SL Green Realty Corp. and Silverstein Properties, were rejected by their respective Community Advisory Committees.

Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement on Monday emphasizing the importance of community benefit and sustainable development. “From the moment that three downstate casino licenses were authorized in the 2022 State Budget, I have been clear: any approved project must provide real benefits to its community and have sustainable economic plans. I am grateful to Chair Vicki Been and the Gaming Facility Location Board for their careful review of the applications according to these high standards,” said Hochul.

She added, “The three projects approved today promise to unlock billions in funding for the MTA and create tens of thousands of jobs. It is critical that they keep those promises. I look forward to the Gaming Commission’s review of the Board’s recommendations in the weeks ahead.”
