Barshop & Oles, a prominent developer, has received final approval from the Austin City Council for a $1 billion project to revitalize the Brodie Oaks Shopping Center in Austin. After years of discussions between the developer, local residents and city officials, plans have been finalized to transform this aging strip mall into a mixed-use space featuring retail stores, housing units and an expansive park.

The redevelopment will encompass:

– 1.26 million square feet of office space
– 140,000 square feet of retail space
– 1,700 residential units
– 13.7 acres of outdoor green space
– A 200-room hotel

Construction on the first phase is set to commence in 2025 with an estimated completion date of 2027. As construction begins on this ambitious project,
existing businesses within the shopping center will need to relocate.
