**Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Unveils $426M Freischlag Tower in Winston-Salem**
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has officially unveiled its latest expansion project — a $426 million, 327,000-square-foot facility designed to enhance advanced medical care, expand critical services, and integrate cutting-edge technology. Located on the Winston-Salem campus, the new seven-story structure has been named the Freischlag Tower.
The Freischlag Tower includes a newly opened adult emergency department, 28 state-of-the-art operating rooms, and 56 intensive care rooms, including trauma and cardiovascular ICU spaces. Additional features include pre- and post-surgical units, a variety of advanced imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, and X-ray machines, as well as a new sterile processing department.
The design and construction of the tower were led by a joint venture between Brasfield & Gorrie and Frank L. Blum Construction Company, with architectural design by firms HKS and CPL.
In addition to this expansion, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist has announced plans to renovate the existing hospital in phases over the next 18 months to bring its entire facility up to modern standards.
