**Ares Management Acquires Site for 400-Unit Multifamily Project in Indian Land**

Ares Management Corp. has purchased a 16.4-acre site designated for a multifamily development at The Exchange at Indian Land. The company paid $16.5 million for the property, where 400 apartment units are planned.

The site was acquired from Crosland Southeast and FCP, the original developers behind The Exchange at Indian Land—a mixed-use development that includes recently opened retail stores such as Costco Wholesale Corp. and Lowe’s Foods. Ares will partner with Crosland Southeast to co-develop the apartment project. Vertical construction on the apartments is expected to begin soon, with initial units projected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027.

JLL’s Hunter Barron, John Gavigan, and Travis Anderson represented Ares in the transaction.

Located at 8918 Charlotte Highway, The Exchange at Indian Land spans more than 130 acres. The broader development plan includes 400 rental apartments, 320 townhomes, and 115,000 square feet of commercial space.
