**GrayStreet Partners to Develop Apartments and Hotel at Historic Pig Stand Site in San Antonio**
GrayStreet Partners has received zoning approval to move forward with a mixed-use development at 1523 North Alamo Street in San Antonio. The property is located near the site of the former Pig Stand restaurant, a longtime landmark in the city.
The planned project includes 100 multifamily units per acre, a hotel exceeding 35 feet in height, and integrated food and beverage operations across more than 167,000 square feet. GrayStreet previously filed plans for a 211-key hotel under Marriott International’s AC Hotel brand.
The site, which also includes neighboring parcels at 1514 and 1516 Broadway, was acquired by GrayStreet in February 2023. The Pig Stand restaurant closed the following month, marking the end of an era for the once-popular franchise.
Originally opened in 1921, the Pig Stand became a beloved institution on Broadway. At its peak, the franchise boasted over 130 locations across the United States. The San Antonio establishment was the last remaining operating restaurant in the Dallas-based chain.
GrayStreet’s redevelopment aims to revitalize the area while honoring its rich historical significance.
