**Amazon to Close Fresh and Go Stores, Shifts Focus to Whole Foods and Grocery Delivery**

Amazon has announced plans to shut down all of its physical Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go store locations as it refocuses efforts on expanding its Whole Foods Market footprint and boosting its grocery delivery services.

The decision comes following a strategic evaluation by the company. “After a careful evaluation of the business and how we can best serve customers, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores, converting various locations into Whole Foods Market stores,” Amazon stated.

A total of 57 Amazon Fresh and 15 Amazon Go stores will be closed as part of the move. In place of these outlets, Amazon plans to open more than 100 new Whole Foods Market locations in the coming years.

Additionally, Amazon will expand its Whole Foods Market Daily Shop concept, a smaller store format offering a curated selection of grab-and-go meals, coffee, and daily essentials. Five new Daily Shop locations are expected to open by the end of 2026.

The company is also accelerating its efforts in the grocery delivery space. Amazon plans to expand same-day grocery delivery to more communities over the next year.

This shift marks a significant realignment of Amazon’s grocery strategy, focusing on the strength of its Whole Foods Market brand and the growing demand for convenient, fast grocery delivery services.
