**Eco King Solutions to Invest $80.5 Million in North Carolina Manufacturing Plant**
Eco King Solutions has announced plans to invest $80.5 million in a new manufacturing facility in Robbinsville, North Carolina. The plant will produce disposable, biodegradable paper tableware such as bowls, plates, and trays, primarily serving supermarkets and the broader food service industry.
The new factory will occupy the former Stanley Furniture building, which has been vacant since 2014 when it closed and resulted in the loss of 400 jobs. This new development is expected to bring significant economic revitalization to the area, with the creation of 500 jobs.
Eco King Solutions is the U.S. subsidiary of Zhejiang Kingsun Eco-pack Co., a Chinese manufacturer known for its eco-friendly packaging products.
To support the project, state and local governments are offering a combined incentives package valued at approximately $7.4 million. This includes a $2.9 million Jobs Development Investment Grant from the state, about $1 million allocated for workforce training, and a $500,000 grant through North Carolina’s building reuse program.
Local incentives are also substantial, with Graham County contributing nearly $1.6 million and the Town of Robbinsville providing more than $1.3 million over a five-year period.
The investment is a significant boost for western North Carolina, promising both economic growth and job creation in a region still recovering from prior industrial losses.
