Fidelis, a developer based in Conroe, is currently in talks with the City of Hutto and a local municipal utilities district for a large mixed-use project located between SH 130 and Chris Kelly Boulevard. The proposed development, named Huggins Crossing, includes plans for 600 multi-family residential units as well as expansions to existing brushy creek trailways. It will also feature greenbelt areas and water features along with 60,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. A grocery store is also planned along with either a hotel or medical facility.

In addition to these amenities, the project will include three logistics buildings totaling 700,000 square feet which can be used for storage or distribution purposes. This development is expected to create around 800-1000 jobs while generating an estimated $9.8 million in property and sales tax revenue.

The main challenges facing this project are related to water supply and transportation infrastructure. However if negotiations progress smoothly, the developers anticipate beginning Phase one – industrial construction – by late2025 followed by Phase two which involves constructing residentialand retail segmentsin2026-27.
