A new high-rise development may be coming to Charlotte, as a local apartment developer has submitted plans to the city for a 283-unit project at Metropolitan Avenue and South Kings Drive. The property, which has been owned by Northwood Ravin since 2020, is currently undeveloped green space behind the Metropolitan mixed-use complex.

According to reports from the Charlotte Business Journal, Northwood Ravin’s proposal includes a parking deck and ground-floor retail space. Renderings on their website depict a 20-story tower atop the parking structure.

In October of last year, Northwood purchased the 1.3-acre property from J.P Morgan Chase & Co for $2.25 million. After receiving approval from City Council in April of this year to rezone the site for additional multifamily units, they are now moving forward with their plans.

Northwood Ravin is no stranger to developing multifamily properties in Charlotte; other projects include The Village at Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood and Alpha Mill II in Optimist Park among others throughout various neighborhoods within the city.
