Amazon has opened its largest storage and distribution center in the country, located just off the Loop 202 in Mesa. The 1.2 million-square-foot facility will be used to store products from third-party sellers on Amazon’s online retail platform, which accounts for 60% of all items sold. According to Rodney Huffman of Amazon, “We’ve got about 13 million square feet of storage racking – very narrow aisles – wall to wall to wall in this building all the way up to the ceiling.”

The new facility is expected employ around 800 people with an increase up 1,300 during peak seasons. In total Arizona now boasts 17 fulfillment and sortation centers as well as 13 delivery stations that employ more than 33,000 full-time and part time workers across the state for Amazon alone. This latest addition promises increased efficiency when it comes stocking inventory levels needed by independent sellers on their platform while providing jobs opportunities throughout Arizona at large scale operation sites like this one
