Construction is underway on the Sports Performance Hub, a privately funded $280 million sports and education campus planned on 92 acres in Homestead. The project is designed to enhance South Dade’s capacity for athletic training, academic programming, and community-focused activities while proceeding without any cost to taxpayers. The development team is described as a group of accomplished athletes and sports executives who are steering the vision and execution of the campus.
The master plan for the Sports Performance Hub calls for sports academies dedicated to five distinct sports disciplines, supported by a residential preparatory environment built to accommodate nearly 600 student-athletes. The intent is to combine year-round athletic development with an academic framework, situating student housing and training assets within a single integrated campus. In addition to training and residential components, the project is programmed to host a range of competitive and entertainment events.
A key feature of the campus will be a modern venue designed to host Miami FC matches, the Homestead Championship Rodeo, and other regional entertainment uses. This multiuse venue is envisioned as a regional draw that can support professional sports, established local events, and broader entertainment programming on a recurring basis. The integration of these elements positions the campus as both a training hub and an event destination within South Dade.
The hospitality program is anchored by a planned five-star, sports-themed hotel that will be delivered as part of the larger campus build-out. This hotel is expected to be supported by additional amenities tailored to athletes, teams, visitors, and event participants. Complementing the lodging and training facilities, the project also includes a sports medicine and surgery center that will feature physical therapy and rehabilitation services, adding a specialized healthcare component to the overall development.
Development will proceed in two primary phases. Phase 1, scheduled for 2025 through 2026, is focused on establishing the core non-residential academies and training infrastructure, laying the foundation for sports development and educational programming on site. Phase 2, targeted for 2026 through 2027, will bring the hospitality and residential components online, including the five-star hotel, student housing, and the dedicated home stadium for Miami FC. Together, the phased approach is structured to sequentially deliver key elements of the campus while building toward full operational capability.
