**Vanderbilt University to Establish San Francisco Campus in 2027**
Vanderbilt University, the prestigious research institution based in Nashville, has announced plans to open a new academic campus in San Francisco in 2027, pending necessary regulatory approvals. This expansion includes acquiring the campus and assets of the California College of the Arts, which will phase out its current operations.
This move is part of Vanderbilt’s broader strategy to enhance interdisciplinary education and innovation well beyond its Nashville home. It follows recent institutional expansions in both New York City and West Palm Beach.
The San Francisco campus is expected to accommodate approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Administrators believe the city’s dynamic blend of innovation, creativity, and technology makes it an ideal environment for advancing Vanderbilt’s academic mission.
“San Francisco offers an extraordinary environment for learning at the intersection of innovation, creativity, and technology, and it provides an unparalleled setting for Vanderbilt to shape the future of higher education,” said Chancellor Daniel Diermeier. “By establishing a significant full-time presence here, Vanderbilt is expanding the ways our students and faculty engage with the world’s most innovative cities and advancing our core mission of education and discovery.”
